Our First Lady

Regenea A. Hurte, Esq.  is the daughter of Mr. Ronald and Judith Gordon. She was born in Wheaton Maryland, and is a 1997 graduate of Wheaton High School in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Regenea matriculated at Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland, majoring in Psychology and graduated in 2001. It was in the same year that she married Rev. Dr. Vernon J. Hurte, moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, and began her studies at The University of Tennessee's College of Law. Regenea earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in May 2004, and has had the opportunity to work with prominent leaders in her field, including former Newport News Circuit Court Judge, Verbena Askew; Virginia State Senator A. Donald McEachin, and revered Portsmouth Circuit Court Judge, James A. Cales. Currently, she is a staff attorney for the Virginia Poverty Law Center. She is also on the Board of Governors of the Young Lawyers Conference of the Virginia State Bar. Regenea is also active in her community as a Diamond Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a board member for the Friends of the Newport News Juvenile Court, immediate past President of the Greater Peninsula Women's Bar, and is an avid Washington Redskins fan.

Regenea is married to her college sweetheart and the love of her life, Rev. Dr. Vernon J. Hurte, Pastor of the New Light Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia. They are the proud parents of a daughter and a son. Regenea loves the Lord, and shows evidence of his presence in her life as a mother, wife, attorney, and as First Lady of New Light Baptist Church, where she is affectionately referred to as "Lady G. Lady G is a Proverbs 31 Woman, an ideal example of a godly woman in today's church and society.
